There is a stunning train journey that connects two exciting European capitals and is full of amazing scenery that comes to life in autumn. Europe is full of autumnal wonders, and favourites for Brits looking for an escape around this time of year include Paris, Vienna and Budapest - all places that are full of amazing things to do, iconic sites to see and delicious food to be eaten. But there are two more underrated European capitals that people don't tend to visit, and a train journey between the two that offers some insanely beautiful scenery.

Tourists have shared their favourite train journeys for this time of the year, and one popped up that people praised for its "remarkable" scenery. The journey takes passengers between Brussels, the capital of Belgium, and Luxembourg. These two cities aren't on the top of many people's lists when it comes to European getaways, but they actually have a lot to offer tourists. Plus, the train journey between the two of them is a sight to be seen.

The journey from Brussels to Luxembourg takes around three hours. Sometimes, it is shorter depending on the time you travel. The two vibrant cities are about 120 miles from each other, so they are pretty close neighbours when it comes to European capitals close to each other.

In Brussels, which is an underrated city in the eyes of some, you have some great attractions such as the Grand Palace, the Atomium and the Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert. And of course, no trip to Brussels would be complete without trying some Belgian chocolate as well as some indulgent Belgian waffles.

Meanwhile, it's a great base for exploring Belgium, home to other beautiful cities such as Bruges and Ghent, which are easily accessible from Brussels via train. After that, it's time to take a journey to Luxembourg.

While the capital of this tiny European country has plenty to offer visitors, such as Bock Casemates, Vianden Castle, Grand Ducal Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Pfaffenthal Lift.

Although small, it's worth visiting Luxembourg to tick another country off the list and see an underrated spot that many of your friends have probably never been to. But the train journey there might just be one of the highlights.

On Facebook, tourists responded to InterRail about the best train journeys in Europe, and one person was quick to point out Brussels to Luxembourg, hailing it for having "lots of autumnal colour".

Meanwhile, TripAdvisor users also laid on the praise. One person suggested getting the direct line between the two cities as the scenery is much better.

They wrote: "The scenery is probably better on the direct line, and certainly the trains are more comfortable."

Another shared: "Between Namur and Arlon, the train ride goes through the Ardennes hills, in particular between Namur and Arlon. This part is quite uninhabited."

Other train journeys that people suggested travellers take were Edinburgh to Aberdeen, Pisa to Genoa and Vienna to Ljubljana.
