Many people bought new smartphones during this festive sale. Among these, there was a distinct craze among iPhone buyers. This year, both non-Pro and Pro models of the iPhone saw significant discounts. If you purchased an iPhone during the sale, it's crucial to adjust certain settings to fully utilize its camera's power. These settings are considered the best settings for your iPhone's camera. Without further ado, let's quickly explain them.
Change These Settings for Photos
To take DSLR-level photos with your iPhone, tap Settings and then Camera. Then:
Tap Formats and select Most Compatible under Camera Capture. Then, select 24MP in Photo Mode. If you're on iOS 26, turn on Resolution Control. This will allow you to take 48MP photos.
If you're using a Pro model iPhone, such as the iPhone 16 Pro, select JPEG XL Lossless.
Next, in the Composition section of Camera Settings, turn on Grid, Level, Mirror Front Camera, and View Outside Frame. Grid and Level will allow you to click photos directly and decide which part of the photo you want to place your subject in. Similarly, the Mirror Front Camera will also preview the view outside the frame, allowing you to understand which parts of the photo will be visible and which will not.
Below this, turn off Prioritize Faster Shooting in the Photo Capture section.
Remaining Settings for Photos
After completing the settings mentioned above, turn on Lens Correction and Macro Control. Lens Correction helps straighten edges when taking wide-angle shots, and by turning on Macro Control, you can control when the Macro Lens is used and when it is not.
Then, turn on all of them under Preserve Settings. This will ensure that any changes you make to your camera settings will remain the same the next time you open the Camera app.
Also, turn on Lens Cleaning Hints. This will tell you when the camera lens needs to be cleaned.
Change these settings for the video.
Now let's talk about the settings you should change for better video recording.
In your iPhone's settings, tap Camera and go to Record Video and select 4K at 30fps.
Next, turn on Show PAL Formats. This will help prevent flickering lights in your video.
Next, turn on Enhanced Stabilization. This will make your videos even more stable.
Next, turn on Lock Camera and Lock White Balance.
Select 1080p HD at 240fps in Record Slow-mo.
Select 4K at 30fps in Record Cinematic.
Select Spatial Audio in Record Sound and turn on Wind Noise Reduction. Spatial Audio will help you enhance sound and reduce noise in your video later. Similarly, Wind Noise Reduction will reduce the wind sound recorded while making a video.
